Some of our heroes

Meet some of the wonderful people who've supported The Brain Charity this summer:

Tara Richardson

Tara Richardson240Tara Richardson from Leeds was diagnosed with an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in her brain in 2013. She says, "When you experience having an AVM and you begin the long-winded process to remove it, it makes you question life: what you do for yourself, what you do for others, whether or not you're getting the most out of it and what impact you're having on the world.
Just 4 days after her most recent brain surgery, Tara decided to run the Leeds 10K, complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge and finish the Great North Run in September - all in aid of The Brain Charity. She has raised masses of awareness and over £600 for the charity already.

Year 6 Pupils, Brackenwood Junior School

Well done to Year 6 pupils from Brackenwood Junior School on the Wirral who planned and entered a sponsored fun run for The Brain Charity this summer. The event was a massive success with lots of colourful costumes, dancing and fun ways to travel.
Through their efforts, the children managed to raise an astounding £800 and still counting!

Carolyn Garlick

Carolyn NightriderCarolyn Garlick must be feeling wheely tyred after finishing her third 100KM Nightrider of the summer, which took place in her hometown of Liverpool in July. Carolyn was given the honour of leading out the riders on the night as she was the only woman to take on all 3 UK Nightriders this year - in Glasgow, London and Liverpool. She really enjoyed the experience and raised an amazing £1,927 along the way.

Tim Walsh

Tim and Seb great North RunOur trustee Tim Walsh is taking part in the Great North Run in September, alongside his son Seb, to fundraise for us. They’re running in memory of Tim's father, Peter Walsh, who they sadly lost to dementia. The duo hope to raise £2,000 whilst also raising lots of awareness about this devastating condition. Tim became a trustee at The Brain Charity in 2015 after hearing of the work we do during his father’s illness.
He & Seb have already achieved over half of their £2,000 target. If you would like to help them reach their goal, please visit their JustGiving page.

This is just a few of the people who've done something incredible for us recently. Our sincere thanks go to each and every one of our supporters who give their time and energy to raise much needed funds and awareness for The Brain Charity.
